W.i.p "Outsider"
(This game is no where near done)
Outsider is a free single player 3d action rpg in development by some team that doesn't have a name yet. (Adam - Creator/Programmer, Andreas - Art Director and Graphics, Seth - Graphics and story)
It is episodic with each episode unlocking more of the final releases features. The first episode will include the prologues, the tutorial, and a bit of the system to explore and some side quests.
The player is an ambitious and driven character and has one of the 3 starting history's: A racer, a cartographer, or a treasure hunter.
Each one has their own starting storyline, and their own unique equipment and starting perks.
A perks system. Level up and gain your unique sense of power to dominate your foes!
3 Factions, each of which can be joined, and each with their own style and home base.
Technically customizable ships, with plenty of ship upgrades and weapons. All of which can be fine tuned.
Tons of secrets, items, random events, and side quests waiting to ambush the player.
Gameplay spanning across a huge randomly generated and constantly changing asteroid field.
A story that spans across a universe.. and another.

A website with more information is in the works and will be up soon.

Outsider several years ago.
A couple of concept arts
The Outsider team draws alot of inspiration from games like : Fallout 1/2. Diablo. Morrowind.
We are focusing on immersion and depth. So be prepared to soak yourself in this new solar system.

Re: W.i.p "Outsider"
Thanks, well the programmers about to finish the editor so that missions can be added.. there's really no reason NOT to finish it at this point. The engine and stuff is done we just need content and missions.

Re: W.i.p "Outsider"
Its not an mmo, its free, and its an 'action' game.
Nobody making this game likes eve. So no, its not a wannabe.
We actually have way better inspirations, like homeworld . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=md04Q7ClW_A
Besides I like how we have quite literally nothing in the game yet, but 2 ships and 3 asteroids and it 'looks like eve'.

Re: W.i.p "Outsider"
^_^ Ill be posting updates on it.
We just got freeroaming working and the level editor is in the works! (May or may not be accessible to players, though I don't see why not, modding is awesome)
Last night, just to test, I flew from the outer edge of the solar system to the the sun. It takes close to 40 minutes.
You cant even tell your getting closer intill about the 15 minute mark, then the sun seems to get a bit bigger, intill finally its so big its blinding you.
I feel like going on a randomly generated rant!
So most of the solar system has random generation. Every asteroid, and every side quest. There are specific story related areas which are hand crafted, like the home bases of each of the factions, and any other story-important areas that need to be somewhat more linear then the rest of the game. No invisible walls ever though, even the most linear mission keeps freeroaming. One of the ways to encourage exploration in this random solar system is the random situations you will run into while exploring.
There will be random enemy encounters, which don't play out like most games. You don't just randomly kill people in Outsider. Death is taken a bit more seriously in our game.
People will almost NEVER shoot at you directly unless your seriously pissed off their faction. There will usually need to be a reason for a fight to occur, at the very least itll be pirates trying to jack your ship. So encountering npc's in the wild may wind up being interesting or you may just fly by them and ignore their presence. But more then just npcs, whole situations will occur. You may run into an already ongoing battle, or a crazy trade situation gone wrong, an abandoned space station, a strange man looking for his hat. Anything may happen when your exploring, and we hope that this encourages exploration for most people!
